Operations

Our Children’s House is a 5 star, year long, full day program. We provide two nutritious and balanced snacks daily and milk, juice, and filtered water. We ask that parents bring a ready-to-eat style lunch for their lunch.

Check out our Parent Policy for more details of our daily structure. This policy manual follows the guidelines set forth by the North Carolina Department of Child Development and Early Education and the Department of Environmental Health.

Daily Schedule

We structure our daily schedule to provide a good balance between active and quiet times, group and individual play, and indoor and outdoor activities. Accordingly, we sensitively design our center’s curriculum to challenge without overwhelming. At OCH, we plan learning experiences with each child’s individual nature, needs, and interests in mind. Check out our public Facebook page for a glimpse at our day.

OCH is closed:

Closures

As a general rule, OCH does not close due to inclement weather. There may be days, however, when we will have to open late, close early, or not open at all because of dangerous conditions. Inclement weather decisions will be made by the Director in consultation with the President or Vice-President of the Board. On a day when weather conditions are severe, parents should contact OCH before leaving home to be sure that the Center is open.
